Dr Daniel Nel entered academia in 2007 following two decades of leadership and technical production in creative industries. Daniel worked at Unitec New Zealand as Academic Discipline Leader and spent 13 years as Technical Services Manager for the QUT Creative Industries Faculty (CIF) managing resources, infrastructure, and learning environments for world-class makerspaces, studios, simulation and experimental facilities. Consultancies include the Kingdom of Bhutan establishing media and communications teaching and technical lead for QUT, CIF Precinct in Kelvin Grove. He is qualified as a Doctor of Creative Industries (DCI) and his experience spans a wide range of leadership, management, WHSE and recreational shorter form credentials.

Daniel joined the Digital Learning Uplift (DLU) team in 2021 as Course Project Manager. He project-manages the design, production and execution of online and blended courses and programs developed by school and faculty-based academic staff, and supported by ITaLI.
