Emma joined ITaLI in 2020 as the Learning Designer responsible for curating content and designing a new ‘toolkit’ resource to support academics in designing and delivering blended and online learning at UQ.

Emma completed a Bachelor of Arts and a teaching qualification, and began her career using early computer software to engage her learners. This ignited a passion for teaching language with technologies. Emma attained an MA in Applied Linguistics – CALL, and moved to Prague to train new TESOL teachers. She returned to Brisbane as a Learning Designer, and has worked at both UQ and QUT for over 20 years in education roles. Most recently, Emma was the Senior Manager: Digital Pedagogy at The University of Oxford. She attained her PhD in film and television and is passionate about the judicious use of media in online learning.
