UQ’s Disability Action Plan (2023-25) calls for Universal Design principles to be “routinely considered when designing curricula,” and the recently released Australian Universities Accord includes ambitious targets for broader tertiary inclusion and participation. What does Universal Design mean to us as teachers and learning designers working in assessment? More to the point, what does Universal Design mean in the first place?

Join Learning Designers Christopher Frost (HASS), Amber Forsyth (HASS), John Raiti (School of Economics) and Alexandra Osika (ITaLI) as we explore a new inclusion module designed by award-winning UQ teachers and dive into a powerful set of principles and evidence-informed guidelines that support improved student outcomes. We will also work together on the following topics:

  • What are some of the advantages and challenges in relation to assessment?
  • What are the implications for factors such as assessment security and group work?
  • How might we change our assessment design and prepare and motivate our students?
Who should attend:

Course coordinators, lecturers, learning designers, T&L staff
