This workshop will discuss how visual media (e.g. video, animation and graphic design) can be used in teaching to enhance student outcomes.

Visual media can be a powerful tool for educators and can facilitate influential communication. It's important for educators to be aware of alternative delivery methods for educational content due to the increasing reliance on hybrid and online learning. The synergy between academics, Learning Designers and media producers will also be explored.

Session participants will:

  • understand what types of visual media work well for certain subjects in order to maximise student engagement
  • hear from colleagues who have used media in their teaching practice and discover just how powerful it was for communicating to their students
  • learn what options exist for self-producing your own media or using production services (e.g. ITaLI media team through the DLU program).

Presenters:

  • Timothy Rankin.
