Dr Luke Zaphir is a practicing philosopher and learning designer for HASS. Luke is working in assessment transformation, exploring and developing possibilities for novel assessment as well as opportunities to enhance teaching and learning activities within the faculty.

In addition to his PhD in philosophy, Luke has a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and is a registered Queensland school teacher. He's been a course coordinator and tutor at the University of Queensland since 2014 and in 2024 was awarded a Teaching and Learning commendation for his skill and innovation in critical thinking pedagogical design.

When not writing about himself in 3rd person, Luke continues to research and publish on his two research interests: media literacy and artificial intelligence. He welcomes the opportunity to collaborate on courses and projects which enhance student learning experiences, critical thinking, and depth of engagement with media and technology.
