Learning Adviser support for students and staff
This workshop will explore how Learning Advisers can help students develop the study skills they need for university.
Learning advisers assist undergraduate and postgraduate students in all programs to clarify ideas from workshops and develop their study skills. They provide feedback on assignments and help students develop effective reading, writing and time management strategies.
Learn how a Learning Adviser can support staff, what resources are available and how they help students to:
clarify ideas and concepts covered in workshops and how to develop the skills introduced
interpret and use feedback from lecturers, tutors or supervisors
develop reading and assignment-writing skills and manage the research process
adapt to HDR (Higher Degree by Research) studies
gain feedback on first few assignments before submission
clarify assignment expectations
Help students prepare for exams, tackle specific subject-related issues and avoid procrastination
develop numeracy skills
manage any problems arising with, lecturers, tutors or supervisors in a confidential manner
develop academic language skills.
