Katy Forrest

Katy is a Learning Designer with over a decade of experience at UQ across the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences faculty, on the Digital Learning Uplift and UQx teams, and was instrumental in the establishment of the Digital Cultures and Societies Research Centre. Katy played a key role in the major technology transition Ultra Activation Project within the HASS faculty. Her current work on the Lead through Learning project focuses on Universal Design for Learning, authentic assessment, and the opportunities available to enhance teaching and learning within the faculty. She is passionate about the student voice in curriculum design, and teaching platform agnostic skills for graduates who can critically engage with AI technology and outputs.
Katy’s PhD research focuses on the ways technology facilitates and modifies rituals around death and grieving. Her background in Human-Centred computing informs her iterative and empathetic approach to learning design and educational technology and her passion for speculative designs and fiction.
