Rhani Symonds

Rhani is an educator and social work practitioner with a background across primary education, out-of-home care, and community services. She has experience in primary classrooms, using inclusive and culturally informed approaches to engage diverse learners. She has supported children and young people in residential care, with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth and culturally responsive practice.
As Principal Learning Designer, Indigenising Curriculum at ITaLI, Rhani leads initiatives to embed Indigenous perspectives and knowledges across curriculum and teaching. She facilitates Circles of Practice, provides advice and support to staff, and contributes to the design and implementation of Indigenous initiatives. Her work focuses on culturally inclusive curriculum design and sustainable curriculum change.
Rhani holds a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) from the University of Newcastle and a Master of Teaching (Coursework) from Griffith University.
