Incorporating employability and entrepreneurial education into our programs and courses aligns with the University's strategic direction and helps us prepare our students for an ever-changing world of work.

The UQ Strategic Plan 2022–2025 outlines the changing world that universities and students find themselves in. Our students need to be prepared for continuous learning over their lifetime and expect more from their education. They also face a world that will change dramatically throughout their working lives as artificial intelligence and other technologies impact on all corners of society. Our response is to evolve our offerings to include a UQ Edge student experience to help better integrate with and prepare our students for this new reality.

Two of the initiatives in this journey are the embedding of employability and entrepreneurial education, supporting the Entrepreneurship Strategy (PDF, 1.4MB) and Teaching and Learning Plan in maximising graduate employability and entrepreneurial thinking and behaviours by creating more experiential learning opportunities focused on employability, enterprise and entrepreneurship in the assessed curriculum.

Entrepreneurial behaviours, attributes, and competencies are a core part of employability. Students and graduates apply entrepreneurial capabilities in a wealth of different environments and contexts that include non-governmental organisations, public sector, social enterprises, charities, communities, private sector businesses, spin-outs, and start-ups.
