Why has UQ introduced Inspera?

Quality assessment equips students for life beyond their formal educational journey, develops a sense of self, and can impact not only what students know, but their ways of knowing (Juuso Henrik Nieminen & Juulia Lahdenperä, 2021). In a world where there is increased competition for students’ attention, assessment can sometimes be the only part of their formal learning program they engage with, so it needs to be thoughtfully designed to be meaningful, relevant, and explicitly beneficial.

In addition to the strategic imperative of building a personalised, digital experience to meet changing student and industry expectations, the University also needs to manage key risks around academic excellence and reputable degrees through enhancing assessment security and academic integrity. Securing our future through the development of online capabilities is also served by engaging with Inspera and the process of designing better quality digital assessment.

About the eAssessment project

The eAssessment project commenced in 2018 and started with extensive engagement and consultation with the UQ community. Then followed market research and procurement activities, leading to the selection of Inspera Assessment as UQ's preferred provider in 2019.

Following a successful pilot (and an extended pilot) Inspera Assessment has been progressively rolled out across the University since 2021.
