Coordinating@UQ
Modern university teaching requires an essential toolkit that can be used in different educational contexts, as students increasingly learn through a mix of online and on-campus interactions.
The Coordinating@UQ program assists staff in creatively connecting curriculum, pedagogy and assessment to foster active student participation and learning.
Coordinating@UQ has been developed in the context of UQ’s policies and the Academic Annual Performance Development (APD) process.
Target audience
UQ staff with course coordination responsibilities, or those who support course design and development.
If you are not a course coordinator but would like to develop your teaching capability, you might consider enrolling in Teaching@UQ.
Program overview
The program includes a series of 6 modules. Each module involves 2 hours of online activities and participation in an in-person workshop.
Successful completion of the program involves active participation in online activities, undertaking workshops (with peer feedback) and passing formative assessment tasks.
Further learning
Participants who successfully complete the program receive a certificate and an invitation to participate in the Teaching Foundations Certificate.
The Teaching Foundations Certificate requires participating in an additional face-to-face learning module and submitting an e-portfolio for assessment. Successful completion of the Certificate results in recognition as an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Program offerings
The program is offered 2 times per year. It is offered in an intensive mode with face-to-face activities occurring during non-teaching periods.
Enrolments are capped at 30 participants. Confirmation of each offering is dependent on sufficient enrolment numbers.
Dates for the future iterations will be available soon. In the meantime, register your interest so we can inform you when the next series has been scheduled.
Time commitment
In addition to attending all workshops, you will be expected to complete all the learning activities outlined in the program timetable. The program team recommends that you set aside 10 hours per week to complete preparatory work, independent study and assignments.
