Curriculum Bootcamp
Designing an effective curriculum for learning requires building on foundational higher education teaching and learning capabilities – to not just see the bigger picture, but to put all the pieces in the right places at the right times.
Curriculum Bootcamp will support participants, through an experiential learning opportunity, to actively design (or re-design) a curriculum framework for an actual learning opportunity. Feedback on your curriculum design is embedded throughout the bootcamp, enabling you to piece together the why, who, when, and how of designing a cohesive learning opportunity for your students.
Overview and completion
Bootcamp is comprised of:
- 8 workshops
- a showcase activity
- pre-workshop readings
- online activities.
To successfully complete the course, you'll need to actively participate in the workshops and online activities, and engage with peer feedback. In addition, if you complete one formative assessment (the showcase activity) and three summative assessments (two brief assignments and one video presentation) to a Pass level, you'll be invited to attend the new Teaching in Practice course in 2025.
If you successfully complete (to a Pass level) both the Curriculum Bootcamp and Teaching in Practice courses, you'll be recognised with a Professional Certificate in University Teaching Practice and as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Participants
Curriculum Bootcamp is open to:
- course coordinators
- program conveners
- professional staff (such as learning designers etc.) who support instructional design.
We expect that participants will have had some experience in teaching and/or supporting learning, and are seeking to enhance their practice and their careers as university educators.
To actively engage in Curriculum Bootcamp, you must have a curriculum offering (e.g., a course, module, or professional development offering etc) that you can work on and develop throughout the Curriculum Bootcamp. This could be a new curriculum offering or one that is being re-designed.
Offerings timetable
This new course will typically be offered twice per year. Confirmation of each offering is dependent on sufficient enrolment numbers.
All course activities are held in person at the St Lucia campus. Participants are expected to actively participate in all course activities. In addition to the time required to participate in workshops, it is anticipated that an additional approximately 10-12 hours per week will be required to complete preparatory work, independent study and assignments.
