Flexible study options

GCUTP

The GCUTP is designed as a flexible pathway. Full details about the program are outlined in the GCUTP listing in UQ's Programs and Courses website.

By studying the 4 GCUTP courses as a suite while enrolled in the program, you will graduate with the Graduate Certificate in University Teaching Practice.

Professional learning pathway

Alternatively, you can choose to study one or more of the courses as professional learning activities.

If you choose the professional learning pathway you're not required to enrol in the GCUTP. This pathway allows you to earn the Teaching Foundations Certificate and Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, and/or the Professional Certificate in University Teaching Practice and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, provided you complete the required courses.

However, if you think you'll want to pursue multiple GCUTP courses in the future, we recommend enrolling in the GCUTP from the start. You can complete the GCUTP part-time over 10 years.

Note that GCUTP students can apply for a maximum of 4 units of RPL credit, which equates to 2 GCUTP courses. Teaching Foundations (EDHE6001) is only granted through RPL. If you complete Curriculum Design at UQ (EDHE6002) and Teaching in Practice (EDHE6003) as professional learning and later enrol in the GCUTP, you will only be able to apply for RPL for one of these courses, not both. In this instance, you would be required to complete the other course again within the GCUTP program. For this reason, we strongly recommend that staff who intend to complete multiple GCUTP course formally enrol in the GCUTP as early as possible.

Enrolling in the professional learning pathway

To enrol in Teaching Foundations, Curriculum Design at UQ, Teaching in Practice or Teaching Project as standalone professional learning courses visit the ITaLI professional learning page.

GCUTP students use mySI-net to manage their enrolment.
